Simplicity 1108, View A, and this poly satin charmeuse are the pattern and fabric that started it all.  This kimono was the first project that I completed when I began my Spring 2016 Wardrobe.

Although I can’t remember when I purchased this pattern (I should start keeping track of that), I purchased the fabric several (or more :-).) years ago, on clearance, at Jo Ann Fabrics.  I was just waiting for the right pattern to match it with.

2016-034Initially, I had View D on the radar but quickly opted for View A when I realized that it required only a quarter of a yard less fabric and had far more interesting details.IMG_4092

Views A and B (a shorter version of View A) have dolman sleeves, gathers around the back neckline and a contoured band.  The continuous band, which is interfaced, is constructed by joining a front and back neck band (two separate pieces) and a lower back band.  Add that to the front and back pieces and viola!

IMG_4075Although I am not 100% satisfied with the “fit” of the band which, in my opinion, is a little distorted, I love this kimono.  It’s a simple yet elegant piece that adds comfort and style to any wardrobe.IMG_4080Until next time…PEACE AND BLESSINGS!!!
